The presence of a dental clinic in DeFuniak Springs will improve the health status of the community by providing comprehensive care and general dentistry for all age groups. The dental practice sites at the DeFuniak Springs dental office are located in a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art facility. Each spring, 50, fourth-year LECOM School of Dental Medicine students, who already have one-year of clinical experience, will begin a 48-week primary care clinical rotation in DeFuniak Springs. The students work under direct supervision of licensed dentists and will see patients of all ages. They will employ the latest diagnostic tools such as digital X-rays for full mouth and individual teeth. Students will keep track of patient records with state-of-the-art electronic medical record software. Each student has a treatment room where they will provide comprehen­sive dental care services. This includes: cleanings, periodontal treatments, crowns, root canal therapy, extractions, dental restorations and full and partial dental prostheses treatments.
